Social Worker, finishing a master's degree in Social Intervention.
En el desarrollo de mi profesión como trabajadora social, mis intereses académicos siempre han estado ligados con el estudio de las diversas problemáticas sociales en los diferentes grupos poblacionales con los que he podido trabajar; no obstante, al desarrollar mi practica académica con población migrante y al mismo tiempo desarrollar una investigación con esta población, nació un gran interés en mí de seguir trabajando con esta población.
Ahora, al ser también parte de este grupo poblacional, los estudios latinos, migración y estudios transnacionales son de gran interés para mí, de modo que estos permiten visibilizar las experiencias, desafíos, niveles de adaptación y creación de comunidad dentro de la población migrante y así mismo, como estas migraciones tienen efectos sociales, económicos, políticos etc. dentro de los países y comunidades de acogida.
I worked with four distinct communities, which I approached with several research and intervention methodologies. Initially, I worked in the processes of systematization of experiences with children and teenagers in the process of restoration of rights by the Colombian State. Likewise, I carried out my academic internship with Venezuelan migrants in Colombia, carrying out procedures of recognition of rights, psychosocial assistance, characterization of migrant families, etc. At the same time, I developed research identifying the psychosocial, economic, political, and cultural affectations to establish adaptation strategies in the face of the migratory challenges in Colombia. Another of my experiences is related to victims of the Colombian armed conflict, by advising them, and following up on the processes of recognition and compensation. Finally, I worked with the elderly in the Mayor's Office of Bucaramanga, participating in the creation of the Public Policy for Aging and Old Age in favor of the elderly of the city. I am currently finishing another Master degree in Social Intervention, where I am conducting a research on the adaptation processes of Colombian migrants in Gainesville, Florida.
