Virtual Exchange Training

Connect your students and classroom to the world...

Participate in an online training workshop and become part of the Florida Virtual Exchange Network (FVEN)!

Next online training dates: to be determined, Summer 2025

Sponsored by the Longview Foundation and USDOE Title VI Funding; a collaboration with the UF International Center (UFIC) and Office of Global Learning (OGL)

Who is eligible for the FVEN training program?

Any K-16 educator from any subject area who is currently teaching in Florida. We especially encourage applicants from state colleges and rural areas. We also encourage faculty working in CTE, and teacher education. Teachers may identify their own project partner or request assistance for the FVEN to find one.

Benefits of joining the FVEN

Participate in a 6-week online training that gives you the tools to launch your first virtual exchange – no prior experience required! All instructors who have participated in the online training then become part of a group of like-minded educators to share ideas and resources and partake in ongoing global education initiatives. Virtual exchange is a growing area of education practice that offers opportunities for grant funding, conference presentations, and journal publications.

What is Virtual Exchange?

Through virtual exchange, instructors can connect their classes with students and faculty abroad to collaborate on assignments, acquire global perspectives on a given discipline, and develop intercultural competence skills.

Why integrate VE in your classroom?

Virtual exchange builds global competence, digital literacy, collaborative and communication skills for students. Instructors benefit from the experience of partnering with an instructor from another world region, enhancing their skills in areas such as intercultural communication and course/activity design. Aside from professional development, instructors and students alike can build friendships.
