LAS affiliate professor Kaira Cabañas (Art/Art History) has recently published the book “Immanent Vitalities: Meaning and Materiality in Modern and Contemporary Art,” as part of a series on Latin American Art.
“Immanent Vitalities” takes a closer look at how contemporary art has shifted to be experienced as an active material agent, rather than an autonomous, inanimate form. Cabañas expands the concept of this new materialism across South America and Western Europe, as well as its ethical dimensions.
