UF Center for Latin American Studies' visiting scholar Dr. Ernane C. Rabelo, published an article in the Gainesville Sun. The article highlights the work done in Brazil by Peter Rolfs, the dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Florida (1915-1920). Against incredible odds, Rolfs moved to Brazil in 1921 and opened the Superior School of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (ESAV), currently called Viçosa Federal University. The success of the school "influenced the Brazilian higher education structure for decades."
